Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) represents a major component in cellular energy metabolism, which is also crucial for cancer cells that have elevated aerobic glycolysis; moreover, targeting the NAD salvage pathway by inhibition of NAMPT was shown effective subgroup gastric cell lines. In order to study expression levels adenocarcinoma esophagogastric junction and stomach (AEG/S) we performed immunohistochemical analysis cohort 296 tumor samples using tissue-microarrays (TMAs). present investigation, saw high only minority our large AEG/S cohort. Although did not find correlation between survival, showed more frequent older patients (>65 years, p = 0.049) associated with numerical shorter survival reach statistical significance within this age group. conclusion, any prognostic effect cohort; however, evaluation other metabolic enzymes needed as molecular predictors response potential treatment AEG/S.
